Managing Complex Behaviour

Managing student behaviour effectively is fundamental to creating an optimal learning environment where all students can thrive. Rather than focusing on punitive measures, research demonstrates that preventative and positive approaches to classroom management yield the most successful outcomes for both academic achievement and student wellbeing. When teachers implement evidence-based positive behaviour strategies, they not only reduce classroom disruptions but also create supportive environments that foster engagement, motivation, and prosocial behaviours. A positive approach emphasises prevention, skill-building, and the development of strong student-teacher relationships, leading to improved learning outcomes while equipping students with essential life skills that extend beyond the classroom.
